Founded in 2016, the Global Women Leaders (GWL) organisation was created to leverage the skills, time, network, innovative thinking and funding of highly successful women from across the globe.
The women involved come from a diverse range of industries, including banking, law, marketing, media, data analytics, finance, philanthropy, management consulting, insurance, start-ups and entrepreneurial businesses to extend the reach and impact of humanitarian efforts, projects and partners – one of those women is Daizy Gedeon.
Daizy was most drawn to the organisation’s cornerstone alliance with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the commitment to follow the same principles and beliefs that have enabled ICRC to retain its truly neutral status after more than 150 years in existence.

“The value of equality and justice for all is an essential part of who I am. That GWL were able to establish this unique alliance with ICRC to serve all people and not judge or discriminate truly differentiated them for me and made me want to be part of this incredible group of women.” – Daizy
GWL founder, Kimberly Gire, is a career banking and finance sector executive, and former Chief Financial Officer for the retail, business and private banking divisions of Westpac Banking Corporation in Australia, and is currently an advisory board member of Fintech and full time strategic philanthropist.
She donates her time to many philanthropic causes but her main focus is GWL and the positive impact it can have on millions, if not hundreds of millions, of people in war-ravaged countries, crisis and disaster zones, through its relationship with ICRC.
“Working collaboratively not only brings a diversity of talent, strategic thinking, cultural input and approach, but also plays to our individual strengths through a strategic, modern philanthropic model that suits busy personal and professional lives,” – Kimberly.
Daizy believes that GWL has the potential to do extraordinary things, thanks to the intelligent, pioneering and successful women involved in the project.
“These women, of all ages, come from all over world, from diverse industries and professions, and with an eclectic range of passions and goals. They’re united by a single purpose – to positively improve the lives, opportunities and futures of the people who are most affected by war and upheaval across the world.” – Daizy
